Explore rich, layered color through a combination of intaglio and monotype printmaking processes using safer, non-toxic materials. In this hands-on workshop, students will learn approachable methods for building color, texture, and image depth through plate work, painterly monotype techniques, selective inking, wiping, and layering. The workshop will introduce ways to combine the structure and beautiful line quality of drypoint intaglio with the spontaneity and atmosphere of monotype. Students will create a small series of unique prints while learning practical approaches to registration, color mixing, press use, and image development. This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as experienced printmakers interested in expanding their color vocabulary.
